Never Click on "Free Public Wi-Fi"

While living in the Residence Halls, you may see and be tempted to connect to a wireless network called "Free Public Wi-Fi". The STC highly recommends that you do not connect to this network as you could be leaving your computer open to attack by a hacker. "Free Public Wi-Fi" is a network that is automatically setup if a computer using the Windows XP operating system cannot find a preferred network. At best the network won't work and you still wont have internet access and at worst your computer would be open to attack.

This network is only created by older Windows XP computers running Service Pack 2, so it is highly recommended that you upgrade your computer to Service Pack 3 if you are using this older version.
