What to do if you are prompted to re-install the SafeConnect PolicyKey

There are several possible reasons why you would have been told that you need to reinstall the PolicyKey. The main cause of this error is that the PolicyKey can't talk with the SafeConnect server. The easiest thing to do is to try reinstalling the PolicyKey:

  • Windows
    1. Go to Start > Control Panel > Programs or Programs and Features
    2. Scroll down to the SafeConnect Policy Key and remove it
  • Mac
    1. Open the Finder and go to Applications
    2. Scroll down to the SafeConnect Policy Key, right click it, and select Show Package Content. Open the Content folder and run the uninstaller that is present.

Once done uninstalling the policy key, download the installer again from this website and install it. Then restart your computer and try to access the internet again.

Another possibility is that your computer's firewall is blocking the two SafeConnect services from running. Please add an exception in your computer's firewall for these two services, both of which are located here: Computer > C:\Program Files\SafeConnect.

  • scManager.sys
  • SCClient.exe

Once those files are allowed through your firewall, restart your computer and try to access the internet again.
